There is a wide range of theraputic modalities and not all are suitable for everyone.
My approach tends to be more CBT based. CBT or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy considers the goal a client has (e.g. public speaking without anxiety, the ability to achieve an orgasm, maintaining an erection etc.) and then puts strategies in place to achieve this goal.
Homework is often set and follows the premise that “if we want different results, we have to do things differently.”
I also use person-centred approaches, which allow for more fluidity in the therapy sessions. This method does not require a goal to be worked towards but rather is about achieving further understanding and reflection.
